India's semiconductor programme moved past project approvals toward commercial production, with CDIL Semiconductor's Mohali facility and Suchi Semicon's Palsana unit beginning production at the opening of SEMICON India 2026, according to YourStory. The India Semiconductor Mission and Intel India launched an introductory semiconductor course available in 23 Indian languages and more than 240 languages globally, and Intel announced an MoU with the National Informatics Centre on skills in AI and semiconductors, according to YourStory. The government also announced six regional centres under its ChipIN initiative providing industry-grade design tooling, fabrication services and compute infrastructure; the report says the centre has given more than one lakh engineers from about 500 organisations access. The announcements coincide with implementation of Semicon 2.0, approved in July with an outlay of ₹1,27,500 crore and six focus areas, YourStory reported.
